Sigmatek celebrates its 35th anniversary of providing automation solutions

Focus on customers and the courage to innovate

The SIGMATEK success story started in 1988 when Andreas Melkus, Theodor Kusejko and Marianne Kusejko dared the step into independence - SIGMATEK was founded and a modern control system for machine building and robotics was launched. 35 years later, the Salzburg-based family business has become an established player in the industry that supplies complete automation systems worldwide. The product range unites controls, I/O’s, visualization, drive technology and safety in an innovative object-oriented engineering platform.

Commitment in Partnership

The Salzburg automation expert accompanies its customers in all aspects of automation, from concept-creation and project planning through to the end of the product life cycle. "We are dedicated to create modular, state-of-the-art automation solutions, build close partnerships, and pride ourselves on our industry-specific engineering know-how and comprehensive customer support. Added to this is our willingness to develop customer-specific hardware" says Managing Director Alexander Melkus, summing up SIGMATEK's DNA. "This holistic view of the machine process makes it possible to sustainably reduce the time-to-market along with the engineering costs for developing new machines. And that is what our customers appreciate."

Flexibilty keeps us ahead

The challenging years of Covid 19, component shortages and bottlenecks in the supply chain proved the importance of a high percentage in-house manufacturing, and of working in close partnership with customers, suppliers and employees. "When a crises occurs, it's all about finding solutions. - Our team is always ready to go the extra mile for the customer. We did everything we could to ensure that our customers were able to deliver during the past couple years: The purchasing department found ways to source the necessary parts, R&D performed product redesigns, production produced smaller lot sizes and the Sales Department stayed on top of customer communication, supporting each other every step of the way” says Alexander Melkus proudly.

Valuing the Salzburg Location

SIGMATEK is at home in Lamprechtshausen, near Salzburg. This is where the state-of-the-art automation components are created in hard- and software. "SIGMATEK is one of the few European medium-sized companies that develops complete automation systems and still produces them in Europe" says Managing Director Marianne Kusejko. Currently, production and warehouse capacities are being expanded and modernized.

The Salzburg-based high-tech company is still fully owned by the founding families, employs around 400 people in the province of Salzburg, and an additional 100 at 10 other locations, with the company being represented worldwide by sales partners. "SIGMATEK is rooted in Salzburg. From here, our solutions are delivered to the world. We are committed to grow purposefully yet sustainably. Long-term success is more important to us than short-term returns" affirms Marianne Kusejko.

The future lies in change

"In a time when many things are neither predictable nor plannable, flexible reaction is a success factor in which we excel" says Alexander Melkus. Reducing the complexity of automation applications and the continuous technological development of the product portfolio, will remain the focus of the automation expert in the coming years.
