Automated Material Flow in SIGMATEK Production

Autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) are now part of SIGMATEK's intralogistics. “Sisi and Franz” are doing a great job. They reliably deliver loaded PCB magazines and boxes to the desired location in all shifts, thus reducing the workload for employees.

The two AGVs pick up magazines independently, navigate autonomously through the production facility at 1.5 m/s, and deliver the goods independently – whether for manual further assembly or to the (intermediate) warehouse. Thanks to an integrated conveyor belt and lift system, Sisi and Franz can flexibly transfer their loads at different heights. Around 200 trips are made each week.

The BLS 4060 AGVs from Melkus Mechatronic are equipped with a SIGMATEK automation solution: compact, vibration-resistant hardware combined with a smart Traffic Control System (TCS) and SLAM navigation. Sisi and Franz work task-based from the TCS, which is connected to the company's ERP system, but also on demand when requested by an employee.

Vice President Operations Gerald Haas is delighted with the successful implementation of the project: “Sisi and Franz” have integrated into our production processes in a very short time. The connection to our SAP system, the creation of routes, and the teaching of pick-up and drop-off positions were completed quickly. Our employees got straightaway used to their new colleagues and worked hard to ensure rapid commissioning and integration. Many thanks to the entire team who made the implementation possible."

  • Fast, lean and vibration-resistant: the S-DIAS control system is ideal for automating AGVs and AMRs – safety seamlessly

integrated.

  • The TCS Fleet Management System connects different AGVs and AMRs variants, coordinates transport tasks, organizes route planning at runtime and optimizes transport tasks with the integrated fleet simulation. SLAM maps can be integrated easily and directly.
  • SlamLoc real-time localization software is revolutionizing the way AGVs & AMRs handle changes in their environment during contour-based navigation.
