Trend builds on the success of IQ®VISION with a range of new features

Trend Control Systems, a leading international manufacturer and supplier of state-of-the-art Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), has announced availability of the latest version of its IQ®VISION Supervisor. IQ®VISION 2.1 boasts a range of improvements including extended controller support, faster device discovery, as well as an improved security model and updates to the Niagara platform.

Since it was launched just over a year ago, IQ®VISION has been incredibly well received. Packed with features that allow end users to get the very best from their BEMS, IQ®VISION integrates Trend controllers, third party smart devices and internet protocols into a centralised software platform that gives building owners and managers the ability to highlight and investigate energy use.

Available to existing customers as part of a maintenance agreement and support package, IQ®VISION 2.1 now features support for Trend’s IQ®L-series of controllers, allowing it to be installed on a wider range of existing sites. Part of the company’s ongoing policy of ensuring backwards compatibility, this development will enable Trend Approved Partners to look for new projects and/or offer further service opportunities.

IQ®VISION 2.1 has been designed to work in conjunction with the latest version of the highly successful Trend Open Network Node – TONN8. Based on Tridium’s powerful JACE-8000 hardware platform, it enables a Trend BEMS to interact directly with 3rd party systems via protocols such as BACnet, LonWorks® and KNX. Trend Partners will need the IQ®VISION 2.1 update in order to commission, monitor and control the TONN8 and streamline the engineering process.

IQ®VISION 2.1 incorporates Niagra 4.3, which offers increased HTML 5 coverage so that more BACnet views are fully supported in web clients. In addition, a new Hx preview feature and enhanced SVG support allows Partners to create fully scalable bespoke graphic pages and quickly test how they will appear in a web client.

With no limit on the number of concurrent users, every authorised person is allowed access to their area’s environmental controls and they can have their own tailored graphics with read or write access as desired down to the point level. This is great for installations of IQ®VISION on rapidly changing and extensive public estates like universities or hospitals, or for customers with an ever growing portfolio of sites. Meanwhile, in order to enhance security it comes with in built authentication that requires users to choose strong passwords that are then encrypted. Alternatively, Partners can choose to link to corporate authentication services via the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) greatly simplifying password and user management. To further enhance security, a comprehensive audit trail of database changes, database storage and back-up, global time functions, calendars, central scheduling, control and energy management routines can be configured.

‘IQ®VISION 2.1 takes energy management to a whole new level and its wide range of dynamic new features not only reduces the amount of money end users spend on energy but gives them a level of control and fine detail that was previously considered out of reach,’ concluded Jim Sword, District Sales Leader (North).  ‘We strongly recommend that sites covered by the maintenance agreement and support package are upgraded to this latest version and Trend Partners adopt IQ®VISION 2.1 as soon as possible to experience the benefits.’
